The Market was first established in 1976 and in those early days each stall-holder was supplied with a wooden table set beneath a roof, sheltered only by canvas walls - and how they shook when the wind blew! In those days the Market was open only on Wednesdays and Saturdays. On Saturday September 30th, the Market will be celebrating its 30th Anniversary. Radio Wyvern will be in attendance and broadcasting from the Market car park. There will be live music, a tombola with the procedes going to local charities and a general 1970`s theme. Come along and join in the fun!How very different it is today! Now the Market is housed in a totally enclosed secure building, with automatic doors at each end. It is also heated in winter to add to customer comfort. There are 28 stalls of varying sizes, all individually operated by stall-holders running their own businesses, with a wide variety quality goods on offer at competitive prices. It is the ideal place for people to shop, as all units are under the same roof. What is more, the Market has it's own large car park and customers can also stop for refreshments at the Cosy Kitchen Cafe. The Market is open every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 9am to 5pm.
